Composite section

Calculate the centroidal second moment of area for a composite section built from rectangles

This tool is suited for sections assembled from simple rectangular elements. Enter the width, height, and centroid position along the y-axis for each part to calculate total area, centroid, second moment of area, and section modulus.

How to use
  • Enter the width (b), height (h), and the distance from the base X-axis to the element centroid (y).
  • Each row represents one rectangular component; unused rows can be left blank.
  • Run the calculation to get ȳ, y_max, I, and Z for the full composite section.
